It’s been years since I’ve stocked a supermarket shelf, but it’s been six months since my scanner last worked properly. But now it’s working again, so that’s one less purchase I need to make, especially since my car needs a new brain. The ECM (engine control module) developed Alzheimers, so can’t remember how to idle properly. Even though my car only has 42,000 miles, it’s the age of the car that matters.
The engine’s been running rich, so I’ll make up the cost of the install in a year or two based on fuel economy, or so I tell myself. But Lexus is nice enough to let me use a brand-new loaner car while the part’s on order, and that’s what makes ownership of a luxury car worth the expense at times. Even if it’s twelve years old.
