Milo passed away on May 28th, 2011 at the age of 14, and was the first dog I’d ever really cared about: He didn’t like me at first, but once given a car ride, he forgot about ever trying to growl at me again. Listening to music and feeling the breeze in his face, just like me, was a great source of joy. He was a mixed-breed, sturdy, and resilient…so I called him a North American Dodge Hound, since he loved to jump behind the wheel of my old Neon as soon as I got out of it. A bark and bite that were serious, but a fun-loving attitude and an attention-seeker when the time was right. He’d curl up and watch TV, or when I’d surf the net, he’d be right there next to my side. He loved going for walks and just seeing new sights, and was just as content with the everyday familiarity of our loving home. He didn’t like Tiger at first, but after we gave them some property to run around with, they were quite inseparable. An awesome watch dog, cool companion, and trusty until the end, always glad to see us after a long trip or after a hard day at work. He’d also obey the cat’s commands! Milo, you’ll definitely be missed.

Wax your car just before any trip during the month of May in Florida. Your paint and your patience will thank you later. Either that, or rent a car for those trips to Walt Disney World.

Iguana at Dreher Park Zoo in West Palm Beach. Darn things can’t wait for you to drop a french fry, although I admit they are kind of cool-looking.
